In this exclusive interview with DSCENE Magazine, Anycia opens up about her unforgettable experience at Rolling Loud, the rituals that prepare her for the stage, and her reflections on the ever-evolving nature of her sound. She also shares insights into her creative process, her inspirations, and what the future holds for this rising star.
How was the experience of performing at Rolling Loud in Vienna? How did the crowd’s energy impact your performance? – It was amazing! Surreal. Overall I just couldn’t believe I was even in Austria and the crowd’s energy was cool. Kinda what I expected! Just being there as a whole had an amazing impact on my performance.
Can you share any memorable moments from your set? Was there anything that stood out to you? – Not really, besides like at one point I asked if anyone knew who I was and ppl did! More people than I thought!
How did you prepare for your performance at such a major festival? Were there any special routines or rituals you followed? – I pray, I smoke a blunt, I munch on a lil sum and like to be surrounded by my loved ones so I can loosen up! And maybe a lil shot of tequila!
Did you get a chance to see any other artists perform? If so, who were some of your favorites? – Yes! I saw my bro Robb Banks! He always gets sh*t crazy! I saw Trippie, which was very intimate. I loved it. Oh and I saw GUNNA! His performance was also amazing, so hard to pick to be honest! All were great!
How has your sound evolved since you first started rapping, and where do you see it going in the future? – Well I like to kinda remain the same but just allow myself to hop into different bags. So lately I’ve been kinda pushing more into bringing my sound into other peoples worlds, genre wise.
What inspires you when writing your lyrics, and how do you translate those inspirations into your music? – Everything is kinda just what I’m doing or feeling at that moment honestly. For the most part, I don’t put too much thought into it, I just go with my flow.
Who are some of the current artists in hip-hop that you admire, and why? – ANYCIA! She’s amazing!
