Reverie by Caroline Hú’s Spring Summer 2025 collection captures the delicate interplay between love and death, unraveling emotions that are as intricate as they are universal. From the warmth of familial connections to the sorrow of loss, the collection evokes the complex realities of living in a world where joy and grief often coexist. Through vibrant hues and delicate silhouettes, Hú explores how love can be both captivating and consuming, expressing lightness but also veering into darkness, greed, and loneliness—like the bittersweet memories of a loved one or a landscape forever tied to someone lost.
SPRING SUMMER 2025
The collection’s emotional depth translates into vivid prints and original designs, all inspired by nature. Enlarged illustrations and watercolors of flowers, roses, mountains, and the sky adorn the fabrics, creating an ethereal yet grounded atmosphere. Hú’s palette transforms emotions into color, using soft shades of melancholic blue and muted reds—like sunlight piercing through clouds or faint rays filtering through leaves. These hues, subtly interwoven with the designer’s inspiration from daily life, reflect fleeting moments of connection and contemplation.
Hú, known for her love of movement and volume, showcases this through innovative silhouettes that give the illusion of garments frozen in mid-motion. Hemlines of skirts and dresses are shaped with boning and wire, capturing the unintentional moments of a garment tugged by life’s invisible forces. The live performance by dancers Emma Portner and Léo Handtschoewercker, integrated into the runway presentation, emphasized this sense of motion, further highlighting Hú’s signature blend of artistic expression and high fashion.
The fabric choices echo the collection’s narrative. Silk taffeta and technical fabrics, mimicking the look of taffeta, embody the tension between fragility and strength. Printed silk organza and fine stretch jersey—crafted to appear as light as organza—add layers of sophistication, while hand-knitted tops speak to the intricate craftsmanship behind each piece. Hú’s iconic smocking technique remains a cornerstone, alongside her ongoing collaboration with French lace masters Sophie Hallette, bringing tulle lace appliques to the forefront of several standout designs.
In addition to the poetic garments, the collection sees the continuation of Hú’s partnership with adidas Originals. Her reinterpretation of the classic Adidas SL72 and Superstar sneakers, scheduled for release in November 2024, merges high fashion with streetwear, elevating the sport-inspired aesthetic. Additionally, her collaboration with Casetify introduces a handcrafted ceramic pendant phone case, seamlessly blending utility with artistry.
Caroline Hú’s Reverie collection explores the profound emotions tied to love and loss but does so with a grace that feels timeless. Each piece captures beauty in the most fleeting moments, offering a visual symphony of movement, memory, and emotion that lingers long after the show concludes.
