“Staunch” was a term famously used by Edith Bouvier Beale, known as Little Edie, in the cult classic documentary “Grey Gardens.” This reference forms the conceptual backbone of Feben’s collection, reflecting a spirit of determination and style under pressure, traits deeply resonant with Feben. Raised by her mother in Sweden under vastly different circumstances than Little Edie, Feben sees a parallel in making the most of one’s surroundings. “For me, it’s about making the best of what you have around you. Little Edie was a great stylist, even though the house was falling down around them,” Feben explains.
Resourcefulness is a key theme throughout the collection, evident in Feben’s approach to design which combines “low-brow with high-brow.” This combination is achieved through innovative knotting details and the reuse of the brand’s signature Twist technique, elements that echo Feben’s philosophy of refreshing and repurposing.
