Travis Kelce brought the heat to Super Bowl LIX Media Day, stepping out in the highly anticipated Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 “Brick by Brick.” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, known for his interest in exclusive footwear, chose the unreleased sneakers for the high-profile event, instantly sparking conversation among sneaker enthusiasts and sports fans alike.

Super Bowl Media Day, officially called Super Bowl Opening Night, is one of the most widely covered pre-game events, where players from both competing teams engage with reporters, participate in interviews, and make their final statements before the championship. Travis Kelce, always known for his fashion-forward approach, used the moment to spotlight one of the most talked-about Jordan releases of the year.

The Jordan 4 Brick by Brick, designed by professional BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester, carries a deep-rooted connection to his journey from Queens, New York, to global recognition. The shoe’s bold Firewood Orange suede upper reflects the red brick buildings of Sylvester’s home borough, while its details nod to his BMX background.

Kelce arrived at Super Bowl LIX Media Day dressed for the occasion. He paired the Nigel Sylvester Jordan 4 with a special-edition Nike Tech Fleece suit, customized with Super Bowl and Kansas City Chiefs branding. His look was completed with a vintage-style New Era Chiefs cap, blending retro aesthetics with modern streetwear.

While the Firewood Orange colorway didn’t match the Chiefs’ red, it still tied into Kelce’s overall look. The choice of footwear was no coincidence – Kelce is an avid Air Jordan collector and frequently incorporates rare and unreleased pairs into his game-day wardrobe.

While Super Bowl LIX ultimately ended in disappointment for the Chiefs, Kelce’s choice of sneakers at Media Day drew attention. The Eagles secured a 40-22 victory, capitalizing on two interceptions thrown by Patrick Mahomes, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Travis Kelce had a relatively quiet game, recording four receptions for 39 yards.

The Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 Brick by Brick

Nigel Sylvester’s Air Jordan 4 Brick by Brick reflects his influence on BMX culture and sneaker design. The sneaker is a follow-up to his 2023 release, the Air Jordan 4 RM “Grandma’s Driveway,” which was inspired by his childhood home. The Brick by Brick edition takes a broader approach, paying homage to the red brick buildings that define many New York neighborhoods.

The shoe’s upper is constructed from rich Firewood Orange suede, creating a bold yet refined aesthetic. Quarter panel netting, molded eyelets, and TPU support wings maintain the classic Jordan 4s silhouette, while subtle off-white details – including the Flight logo on the woven Jumpman tongue tag and an embroidered mini-Swoosh on the lateral forefoot – add depth to the design. The heel tab features “Bike Air” branding, a reference to Sylvester’s BMX background and his long-standing relationship with Jordan.

Beneath the upper, the shoe features a Sail-colored polyurethane midsole with visible Air-sole cushioning in the heel, ensuring comfort while maintaining the sneaker’s streetwear appeal. The outsole retains the Air Jordan 4’s signature star traction pattern, designed for durability and grip.

Sylvester has spoken openly about the sneaker’s deeper meaning, explaining that Brick by Brick represents the perseverance required to build a career in BMX, particularly as a Black athlete in a sport where he was an outsider. The design embodies the struggles and triumphs that shaped his journey, making it a deeply personal project.

Release Information

The Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 Brick by Brick is set for release on March 14, 2025. The sneaker will be available through Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers, with a retail price of $225. Given the strong demand for Sylvester’s previous Jordan collaborations, the “Brick by Brick” edition is expected to sell out quickly. As with many limited-edition Jordan releases, resale prices for the Brick by Brick Air Jordan 4 are expected to soar, potentially reaching double or even triple the retail price within weeks of its launch.

The sneaker’s release coincides with Jordan’s 40th anniversary, an occasion marked by several high-profile reissues and collaborations. Among them is the return of the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4, originally released in 2005.
