At Milan Design Week 2025, Loro Piana and Dimoremilano come together for the first time to present La Prima Notte di Quiete, an immersive installation inside the Cortile della Seta at Loro Piana’s Milan headquarters. Guests step into a setting reminiscent of an old Hollywood cinema lobby, where deep red velvet curtains, leopard-print carpets, and gleaming brass details evoke an intimate mood.
DESIGN
The installation unfolds like a film, conceived and directed by Dimorestudio, guiding guests through a home that feels fictional. Moving from room to room, dining, living, bedroom, bathroom, and garden, visitors enter a sequence of quiet, tactile spaces designed to shield them from the external noise of the world. Each corner of the house draws from the elegance of the 1970s and 1980s, articulated through exceptional furniture by Dimoremilano, pieces from Loro Piana Interiors, and curated artworks from Tornabuoni Art, Cardi Gallery, and Galleria Gracis e Secci Gallery.
Central to the project is the exploration of the constructive principle, how materials, forms, and textures intertwine, overlap, or support one another. Warm tones and refined materials such as velvet, mohair, walnut burl, and Loro Piana’s signature cashmere create a sense of intimacy and calm. The furnishings, like the Quarona poufs and Valsesia dining table, express both compositional precision and sensuality. These are designs that invite pause, meant to be lived in slowly, like a frame suspended in film.
The title La Prima Notte di Quiete, “The First Night of Quiet”, highlights the theme of retreat. Through atmospheric lighting, softened shadows, and a soundscape by Nicola Guiducci, the house becomes a sensory refuge. Subtle sounds like rain tapping windows or a piano in the distance deepen the feeling of cinematic detachment.
Designs by Dimoremilano are reimagined in Loro Piana Interiors’ exquisite fabrics, reinforcing the shared commitment to craftsmanship. Highlights include the Trivero armchairs, Locarno cabinets wrapped in mirrored glass and Altai wool, and elegant lighting like the Bullet ceiling lamp and Bodice floor light. These pieces, alongside classics like the Sciura and Patty armchairs, shape a coherent, textured language that is luxurious without being ornamental.
Completing the installation is the debut of Punti a Maglia, Loro Piana’s first tableware collection, produced in Limoges by a team of fifty artisans. Decorated with porcelain thread motifs that echo the brand’s textile heritage, the collection symbolizes Loro Piana’s deepening exploration into the art de vivre. With La Prima Notte di Quiete, the brand reinforces its identity through a project that elevates design to dreamlike experience, where the home becomes both stage and sanctuary.
