ZEGNA introduces Mocassin, its newest signature loafer, shaped by decades of Italian craftsmanship and everyday style. Rooted in the streets of Italy and inspired by the vocabulary of its founder, who referred to the design in Piedmontese dialect as “moccasin,” this shoe carries with it a local reference that became a symbol of national identity. Mocassin reflects ZEGNA’s ongoing dialogue with its origins, while stepping confidently into the future. Fronted by actor Mads Mikkelsen, who brings the shoe to life in the brand’s Summer 2025 campaign.

SHOES

The design follows a long evolution, shaped by the traditions and lifestyle of Italy. ZEGNA didn’t just name the shoe after a dialect, it infused every element of Mocassin with the comfort, ease, and refinement that define Italian living. As the Summer 2025 campaign rolls out, the loafer takes center stage, seen on Global Ambassador Mads Mikkelsen, walking through sun-drenched Italian streets. Shot among stone walls and glowing light, the campaign invites the viewer into a setting where ZEGNA’s philosophy meets everyday movement.

Mocassin’s most recognizable feature is the 232 Road symbol that runs across the vamp. This design element ties back to the company’s past, acting as a continuous thread across all ZEGNA shoes. More than decoration, the 232 Road detail becomes a signature, one that carries the imprint of years of refinement and experience. It marks each step with quiet confidence, linking generations through design and precision.

ZEGNA selected fine leather for Mocassin, using tanning methods rooted in longstanding Italian technique. These methods, passed down and practiced for decades, serve a practical purpose: to ensure the shoe stays durable, soft, and resistant to wear. Mocassin’s construction allows it to be worn sockless, in line with the relaxed sophistication often associated with Italian tailoring.

The campaign sets Mikkelsen within the atmosphere that inspired Mocassin. He wears the Oasi Lino collection, known for its 100% traceable fibers, with the new loafers, presenting a wardrobe that speaks to both design and intention. The setting itself mirrors the quiet power of the collection: no dramatic effects, just the textured rhythm of Italian streets and the everyday elegance that comes from materials made with care.

Each pair of Mocassin evolves over time. It softens, shifts, and develops a shape unique to the wearer. The leather absorbs experience, forming a bond that’s physical and visual. The more it’s worn, the more character it gains. ZEGNA doesn’t treat this shoe as a fixed object, it’s a companion. Much like a well-loved car or vintage item passed between generations, Mocassin ages with grace, carrying the wearer’s story in every crease and curve.
