For the Defiance Issue of DSCENE Magazine, beauty breaks all the rules. Model Johannelys Garcia, signed with Elite, fronts a riot of color and texture in an unapologetically bold editorial lensed by Ingmar Chen. Every detail of the shoot dares excess, from the hyper-pigmented makeup to the sculptural, maximalist nails, capturing a vision of beauty that’s expressive, chaotic, and alive.
ORDER IN PRINT AND DIGITAL
Mark Edio at SEE MANAGEMENT leads the makeup with fearless experimentation, using MAC Cosmetics to create a vibrant palette of exaggerated shapes and technicolor pigments. The skin, prepped with Sunday Riley, glows beneath saturated strokes of blues, yellows, and acid pinks, each moment a refusal of subtlety. Supporting the high-octane looks is Jonathan Logan, assisting in building out layers of shine, texture, and clash.
Nails by Pika at SEE MANAGEMENT are a full moment of their own. Using Beetles gel polish, he delivers sculptural, multicolored sets that feel like wearable art. Bold forms, extreme length, and unexpected color combinations that amplify the story with attitude.
Yukie Yamasaki, working with Oribe, constructs hair that swings between graphic sharpness and wild shape. The energy is untamed and sculptural, echoing the boldness of the rest of the visuals.
Styled by Christian Ramirez, the wardrobe holds nothing back, think vibrant tones, amplified silhouettes, and theatrical accessories. Each look works in sync with Damien Vaughan Shippee’s prop styling, where color and chaos collide in layered, surreal compositions. Tyler Herson assists in creating a world that’s more maximal dream than moodboard.
