LOEWE introduced the Landscape series during the Fall Winter 2024 precollection. The series takes its cues from natural surface formations, focusing on how leather can translate those patterns through craft. This season, the concept continues with new versions of the House’s iconic accessories.
BAGS
For the first time, the Puzzle bag enters the series. Known for its geometric structure, the bag now carries layers of colorful leather that build on its shape. The seasonal lineup also features a revised Flamenco Clutch, along with small leather goods such as cardholders and wallets. These pieces use the same layered design process to give a consistent feel across the collection.
To shape the Landscape series, LOEWE’s artisans use a specific set of leatherworking techniques. They begin by cutting sections of leather in different shades and compressing them into forms that echo lines found in rock and terrain. This method creates a tactile and visual structure that builds from the material itself.
One key part of the process involves skiving, a technique that removes thin layers from the top of the leather panels to expose the ones below. This gives the finished product a surface that shifts in depth and color. The technique not only adds movement but also reveals the layers in a way that connects each item to the larger design approach of the collection. The leather’s response to these techniques makes every panel carry a distinct texture. As each layer appears, it creates a surface that resembles natural striations, similar to those found in coastal zones or carved-out landforms.
The Puzzle bag carries panels with layered color and leather treatments that reflect the same approach used throughout the series. Rather than relying on flat construction, the design expands and recedes, allowing form and surface to work together.
Smaller accessories, including wallets and cardholders, use compressed panels shaped to maintain the visual rhythm seen in the larger bags. Their edges, tones, and textures align with the collection’s direction while keeping their everyday function intact. These accessories serve as both practical pieces and small-scale studies in material design.
With this release, LOEWE continues to build the Landscape series through detail, contrast, and construction. The new additions stay true to the original concept while bringing in fresh forms and applications.
