Bella Hadid Fronts Saint Laurent Spring 2026 Mombasa

For Spring 2026, Saint Laurent turns its focus inward, revisiting one of its most recognizable accessories through a lens shaped by memory, restraint, and continuity. Titled Mombasa, the season marks the return of the iconic Mombasa bag, first introduced in the Spring Summer 2002 collection, now reintroduced under the art direction of Anthony Vaccarello.

BAGS

Shot by Glen Luchford and fronted by Bella Hadid, the campaign frames the bag not as an archival revival, but as a lived object reinserted into the present. The imagery carries a quiet intensity, stripping away excess to focus on posture, gesture, and material presence. Hadid’s appearance reinforces the idea of continuity rather than nostalgia, positioning the Mombasa as something instinctive and current.

Faithful to its original form yet subtly refined, the Mombasa returns with its signature sculptural handle and relaxed shoulder carry. The bag’s natural slouch remains central to its identity, lending the silhouette an ease that feels deliberate rather than undone. For Spring 2026, the design is offered in three sizes, large, medium, and small, each conceived for daily use without sacrificing character.

The large and medium versions feature a zipped interior pocket and suede calfskin lining, finished with a leather handle that emphasizes tactility and weight. Materials include Courchevel leather, vintage calfskin, and pony leather, reinforcing the bag’s tactile richness. The color palette remains restrained and grounded, spanning black, rouge cabernet, santal, and dark oat. The small size extends the offering further, appearing in dark bay leaf alligator for a sharper, more compact expression.

Vaccarello’s approach to the Mombasa aligns with his broader vision for Saint Laurent: preserving the codes that define the house while allowing them to evolve through proportion, material, and attitude. There is no overt embellishment, no attempt to modernize through excess. Instead, the bag’s relevance emerges through wearability, texture, and the confidence of a form that needs little explanation.
