Burberry presents the Gabardine Capsule as a focused exploration of the house’s signature fabric and its role in clothing designed for demanding conditions. Gabardine, created by Thomas Burberry in 1879, changed how outerwear responded to rain and shifting weather. Its tightly woven structure resists water while maintaining breathability, a quality that has served explorers, workers, and city wearers for generations.
The launch arrives with a film set in Snowdonia, Wales, a location defined by rapid weather changes and rugged terrain. Explorers Connaire Cann, Jesse Grylls, and Marlon Patrice appear alongside models Iris Lasnet and Zhuó Chen, each moving through the landscape in pieces designed to meet wind, rain, and cold head-on.

The Gabardine Capsule aligns with Burberry’s 170-year history while keeping its focus on the present collection. The lineup centers on outerwear and layering pieces that either use gabardine directly or reference it through construction details. Parkas, down-filled jackets, quilted styles, Harrington jackets, and bomber jackets anchor the offering. Each silhouette uses brushed cotton nylon gabardine, treated through dyeing to achieve the capsule’s limited palette of hamper beige and juniper green.
Underneath the outer layers, the capsule introduces knitwear and jersey pieces designed for warmth and adaptability. Chunky ribbed knits in wool cashmere provide structure and insulation, while cotton mélange hoodies, jogging pants, and T-shirts extend the range into everyday wear. Designers integrate gabardine panels and trench-inspired elements across these pieces, including the use of epaulettes, which link back to Burberry’s outerwear codes.

A graphic detail connects the capsule to archival material through a specially designed label inspired by a 1993 campaign. The phrase “Burberrys grew out of country life” appears across the collection in multiple forms. The label sits stitched inside coats and jackets, appliquéd onto jersey garments, and rendered through intarsia on a knit sweater.
The Gabardine Capsule stays tightly edited, with each piece designed for weather protection, layering, and movement. Familiar silhouettes take shape through focused material choice and construction. The collection is available now online and in Burberry stores worldwide.
