Anrealage introduces the Fall Winter 2026 2027 collection, Ghost, at Ircam in Paris. Designer Kunihiko Morinaga bases the work on a study of existence, focusing on the uncertain space where objects resist visibility. For DSCENE Magazine, photographer Sohom Das documented the backstage environment through a series of exclusive images.
BACKSTAGE
The collection draws inspiration from Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 film Ghost in the Shell, specifically the thermal optical camouflage used by Major Motoko Kusanagi. This technology refracts and reflects light until the body outline disappears into the surroundings.

Morinaga translates these cinematic concepts into garments that interact with visual space. Surfaces reflect nearby imagery while colors and patterns shift according to environmental conditions. These transitions weaken the silhouette and alter the connection between the body and the city. The clothing responds to the environment until the physical outline fades.
A collaboration with LED TOKYO introduces engineered surfaces that capture and transmit fragments of nearby imagery across the fabric. These garments operate as dynamic screens where patterns shift continuously. When the displayed imagery aligns with the surrounding setting, the clothing integrates with the visual field and the body disappears.

The collection also features voluminous silhouettes inspired by the 1970s. These designs combine frills with rigid structures resembling mechanical armor or insect shells. Jewelry including antenna-like elements rises from fingers and shoes to extend this atmosphere. Jacquard textiles feature kaleidoscopic florals, AI-generated crowds, acid green numeric code, and circuit patterns. Several watercolor-like floral prints utilize KYOCERA’s FOREARTH textile printer, which eliminates water use during production.

During the finale, the large screen wall behind the runway transforms. Image and architecture integrate until the structure absorbs the environment and disappears from view.
