New Balance expands its lifestyle offering with the upcoming 992 “Pink Chalk,” a new colorway from the brand’s Made in USA division. The release moves beyond the neutral grey combinations that often define the Boston label’s footwear and introduces a softer, more expressive palette built around several shades of pink and red.

The 992 features a layered upper that combines breathable mesh, premium suede, and smooth leather. A soft Pink Chalk shade leads the color scheme. New Balance applies the hue throughout the upper panels, including the toe box, quarter sections, and heel counters.
Pink Lemonade accents introduce a lighter shade through smaller details. These touches add variation without changing the overall direction of the upper. The two pink tones occupy separate panels and components, giving the design depth through careful color placement and changes in material.
Cherry Leather provides the strongest contrast. The deep red shade appears on the lateral “N” logos, the tongue, and several sections of the multi-piece sole. Its darker finish draws attention to the shoe’s defining details and creates a clear separation from the softer colors that cover most of the upper.
Mesh forms the breathable foundation, while suede overlays give the structure added texture and definition. Smooth leather underlays introduce another surface beneath the outer panels.
Underfoot, the 992 retains the performance features that trace back to its running origins. New Balance equips the shoe with ENCAP and C-CAP cushioning throughout the midsole.
Visible ABZORB SBS inserts sit at the heel and forefoot. The cushioning units increase impact absorption in the areas that carry repeated pressure during movement. Their placement also contributes to the segmented appearance of the sole, where Cherry Leather red adds contrast to several sections.
An NDurance rubber outsole completes the technical setup. New Balance engineered the outsole for durable traction, giving the lifestyle release a hard-wearing base that supports regular use. The combination of ENCAP, C-CAP, ABZORB SBS, and NDurance keeps the model connected to its original performance function.
