PUMA introduces the Speedcat Mule as the latest update to its revived Speedcat line. The new silhouette keeps the attitude of the original shape, then gives it a breezier construction with an open heel and slip-on fit. The release brings the Speedcat into a backless format while keeping the sleek profile that has driven renewed attention around the archival design.

Blackpink member Rosé presents the Speedcat Mule in the accompanying campaign. The imagery places her inside a nostalgic interior setting with vintage-inspired details, giving the launch a polished and personal tone. Her styling gives the shoe a direct link to everyday dressing, while the campaign keeps attention on the Mule’s slim shape, soft surface details and low-slung attitude.
The design updates the familiar Speedcat form with a smooth leather upper and ruched finishes. PUMA removes laces from the silhouette and adds elastic forefoot straps, giving the shoe a clean appearance and an easier entry. The backless construction changes the way the Speedcat functions, turning it into a streamlined slip-on for warmer weather and daily wear.
PUMA releases the Speedcat Mule in four understated colorways: Black, Burgundy, Coffee Brown and Cream. Each shade keeps the design close to a neutral wardrobe, while Burgundy and Coffee Brown give the line richer seasonal options. Cream brings a lighter version of the shape, and Black gives the silhouette its most direct link to the original Speedcat attitude.
The launch follows the recent return of the Speedcat, one of PUMA’s archival silhouettes. The brand has brought the shape back with original colorways and new interpretations, including the Speedcat Ballet and Speedcat Wedge. PUMA has also used special-edition collaborations to renew attention around the line. The Mule enters that sequence as an offbeat update, taking the Speedcat beyond its standard sneaker format while keeping its recognizable outline.
The shoe’s details give it a softer reading than the classic Speedcat. The ruched leather adds texture to the upper, while the elastic straps replace the usual lace system with a simpler finish.
