OPEN YY introduces its Pre-Fall 2026 collection, When in Seoul, drawing inspiration from the movement and energy of the South Korean capital. The collection approaches everyday dressing through relaxed tailoring, functional layers and sporty silhouettes designed around the changing pace of urban life.

PRE-FALL 2026

Founded in 2020 by sisters Jiyoung and Boyoung Kim, OPEN YY originally launched under the name TheOpen Product. The designers later renamed the label using “Young,” a name shared by both sisters. Although pronounced the same way, each version carries a different meaning. One translates to “brightness,” while the other means “flower bud.” That dual meaning reflects the relationship between the founders and their interest in individuality and different forms of personal expression.

The sisters developed OPEN YY as a casual-chic womenswear label informed by the way contemporary women move between different environments throughout the day. References to the early 1990s and 2000s regularly shape the brand’s collections, giving familiar categories a less conventional direction through cutouts, asymmetrical lines and exposed hems.

OPEN YY applies this approach across tailoring and sportswear. Classic suits can sit alongside sweatpants and casual separates, allowing different dress codes to exist within the same wardrobe. The designers prioritize comfort, movement and originality while adapting recognizable garments through proportion and construction.

For Pre-Fall 2026, Seoul provides the central reference point. When in Seoul takes cues from the city’s kinetic rhythm and translates that energy through hooded boleros, tailored skirts, jogger pants and hats. Relaxed silhouettes define much of the collection, while controlled tailoring gives individual pieces a clear structure.

The tension between casual clothing and sharper construction appears throughout the season. Hooded elements bring a sporty character to more defined silhouettes, while jogger pants introduce a practical component alongside skirts and tailored pieces. OPEN YY treats these categories as part of the same everyday wardrobe rather than separating formal and casual dressing.

Pattern adds another layer to the collection. Plaid and checkered prints appear alongside neutral shades, creating graphic shifts across the looks. Brighter colors interrupt the quieter palette at selected points, reflecting the visual changes and constant activity associated with Seoul.

The collection considers how clothing functions across different moments of the day. Each garment supports an adaptable approach to dressing, allowing individual pieces to move between daytime schedules and evening plans. OPEN YY keeps silhouettes relaxed enough for regular wear while using tailoring and proportion to maintain definition.

That balance continues the design language Jiyoung and Boyoung Kim have developed since establishing the label. Their work frequently begins with familiar clothing before altering its construction, surface or proportions. In When in Seoul, this method gives wardrobe staples a contemporary direction without removing their practical purpose.

Seoul becomes a reference for pace, movement and variation rather than a literal visual theme. The city informs the collection through shifts between structured and relaxed silhouettes, graphic checks, neutral tones and concentrated areas of color.
