MONSE presented its Spring Summer 2027 collection at Skylight at The Refinery, where Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia staged their first runway show since leaving Oscar de la Renta. The designers introduced 44 looks rooted in the image of the “broken” tulip, a rare bloom known for irregular, variegated petals.

SPRING SUMMER 2027

Kim and Garcia used the flower as a starting point for ideas of fragility, strength, refinement and unfinished detail. Its irregular appearance informed the treatment of florals throughout the collection, giving familiar decorative forms a disrupted quality. The designers abstracted and inverted tulip imagery, allowing construction, texture and exposed surfaces to carry the reference beyond literal floral prints.

Richly woven florals appeared inside out, revealing the structures beneath their finished surfaces. Custom lace interpreted the tulip through a lighter, more sensual treatment, while sheer organza introduced transparency throughout the runway. Embroidery, fil coupé fringe, feathered edges and distressed surfaces created additional texture. Sculptural tulip appliqués gave the flower a three-dimensional form, and asymmetric draping suggested petals and stems coming apart.

MONSE applied these techniques to dresses, separates, knitwear and denim, giving the same source material several expressions throughout the 44 looks. Alex White styled the collection and incorporated ARAKS for MONSE into its lingerie elements. Vibrant bras and briefs appeared beneath sheer fabrics and lace, creating visible layers within many of the runway looks.

New York City supplied another personal reference for the collection. Kim and Garcia met in the city, founded MONSE there and developed their own point of view while building the house. The Spring 2027 show placed that history within a new phase for the designers as they focus on MONSE full time.

The guest list for the show included Ego Nwodim, Tiffany Haddish, Jane Krakowski, Jordana Brewster, Sarah Shahi, Ashley Biden, Rachel Zoe, Nicky Hilton, Erika Jayne, Bronwyn Newport, Sai de Silva, Kristen Kish, Hailey van Lith, Camila Coelho, Coco Rocha, Dorothy Wang and Christina Kirkman.

Backstage, MONSE partnered with Eberjey on robes embroidered with each model’s name. Oribe handled hair for the runway, with Key Artist Kien Hoang leading the look. The beauty team prepped models’ skin with THOME’s Glow Signature Professional-Grade Ultrasound Skincare Device, while Vaseline supplied Cherry Aura and Vanilla Comfort body lotions.

Founded in New York in 2015 by Kim and Garcia, MONSE has developed its womenswear through sculptural tailoring and altered classic silhouettes. For Spring Summer 2027, the designers carried that approach into florals, lace, transparency, denim and draped forms, using the broken tulip as the collection’s primary visual reference.
