Barbara Casasola

Up and coming designer Barbara Casasola was the guest womenswear designer at Pitti W 13 held in keeping with Pitti Uomo. Barbara has found a refreshing manner to celebrate the classic tailoring with the presented capsule collection 'Menswear For Women'.

Traditional menswear fabrics and a more masculine palette of grey, black and blue are offset by staple casasola silks and lip-toned pink, red and bordeaux shades. each piece was made in the host city, florence, and exclusively with italian fabrics. the essential house reference remains brazilian modernism. the results are pared-back and elegant silhouettes that mix a sense of power with sensuality. – from Barbara Casasola

Born in brazil in 1984, Barbara studied fashion design at Central saint Martins in London and later at Istituto Marangoni in milan where she graduated cum laude and graduated first in her class in 2007. on completion of her studies, she was hired by Roberto Cavalli in Florence, where she was first assistant designer for womenswear for over two years. She subsequently moved to Paris in january 2010 to work alongside Gabriele Greiss (former creative director of Sonia Rykiel) on assignments for Lanvin and See by Chloe. After two solo presentations in Paris, Barbara made her catwalk debut in september 2013 during London fashion week. The collections are sold in over 25 countries. Stockists include Harvey Nichols London and Riyadh, Spiga 2 milan, Joyce Hong Kong and Luisa Via Roma in Florence, as well as online at Moda Operandi, Avenue 32 and The Corner. While her studio is based in London Barbara's pieces are made in Italy.
