3 Comfortable Clothing Choices for Hard Working Counselors

Women are expected to look like they just stepped out of the pages of a magazine, whether they’re coming from the podiatrist or are rushing to work after being up all night with the flu. Such is the case of counselors who often meet with multiple clients each day. You have to always look really well put together if others are going to trust you in assisting with their personal problems. At times it can be hard for students of Regis College studying in online counseling degree programs to know what goes into a professional wardrobe right after graduating. Take a look at these three outfit ideas that any professional counselor can put together, whether you’re going on two hours of sleep, feeling under the weather, or only have five minutes to get dressed. You’ll get oodles of inspiration for decking out your wardrobe and feel confident when seeing clients.

Pantsuits

You can throw them right in with the rest of your laundry, but you might want to give your pantsuits a fresh pressing with your iron before going to work. These comfortable business ready outfits are simple, sharp, and versatile. Under your blazer, you can put on your favorite t-shirt that you’ve been wearing since before attaining your online counseling degree or a button up shirt that shows how grown-up you are. Pantsuits really need to be a staple in your wardrobe if you want to show that you’re professional but you haven’t got time to choose the perfect outfit everyday.

Read more after the jump:

Tunics and Leggings

Whether you live in leggings on your off time or you turn your nose up at the thought of wearing them without having on a dress or a skirt, leggings are about to become your new best friend. They’re more flexible than pantyhose so you can pull them on in seconds. Leggings keep your legs warm in any weather, so you might end up wearing them a lot in the winter. While they don’t always come in fun patterns, you can get away with wearing checkers, stripes, polka dots or even leggings with little dogs all over them in an office setting without getting stares.

Blouses and Khakis

Jeans aren’t always a type of clothing that you can wear when seeing clients, but khakis are never frowned upon. If you want clothes that you’ll feel good in even after sitting in a counseling session for over 90 minutes, get different types of khakis pants and pair them with flattering blouses. This feminine look is a great idea no matter what your age or body type is. Khakis also go well with flats, heels, sneakers, and wedges, so you can dress conservatively or have an edge to your professional look.

Dressing so that you look stylish is important if you’re a counseling professional, but you also have to be comfortable while on the job. Clients will remember your personal style, but they’ll also remember how you appear to feel about yourself. When you wear clothes that make you feel really good, it definitely shows.
