Versace is back on the runway for the Spring Summer 2021 runway show inspired by the ancient Greece and Medusa herself but also our collective longing for the seaside. Hand in hand with the theme for the coming summer Donatella Versace and her team have imagined and put together the Versacepolis.
For the team this is a vision of an utopian collective comprised of strong and confident men and women. Donatella shared with the press:
I wanted to create something disruptive, something that could be in tune with what has changed inside all of us. To me that meant dreaming of a new world. A world made of popping colors and fantastic creatures and a world in which we can all coexist peacefully. This collection has an upbeat soul and is optimistic, dreamy, positive… These are clothes that bring you joy.
The runway cast featured superstars such as Irina Shayk, Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, Abby Champion, Adut Akech and Mica Argañaraz to name a few. While opting for a runway show instead of a digital only presentation, the audience at the show was extremely limited.
