Art Basel has unveiled the list of exhibitors and initial highlights for its 2024 edition in the French capital, marking a significant rebranding as it will now be known as Art Basel Paris. This renaming coincides with the inaugural presentation at the newly renovated Grand Palais, a historic venue that has undergone three years of extensive renovations.

ART

In conjunction with the relocation to the Grand Palais, Art Basel’s Paris show has been rebranded to emphasize its deep connection with the city’s rich cultural heritage. The decision to rename the show was made in consultation with local partners, including the French Ministry of Culture, the City of Paris, GrandPalaisRMN, and Parisian galleries. This move underscores Art Basel’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive art scene in Paris.

The 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris will feature 194 galleries from 42 countries, including 51 first-time participants and 64 galleries with spaces in France. This diverse lineup will showcase the best of contemporary art, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists. The Grand Palais, with its storied history and architectural grandeur, offers an ideal setting for this ambitious event.

One of the key additions to this year’s event is the new sector, Premise, which will present nine unique curatorial projects. This sector aims to broaden the definition of the art historical canon by featuring highly singular presentations. This initiative reflects Art Basel’s mission to promote inclusivity and diversity within the art world.

In addition to the new sector, Art Basel Paris will feature an ambitious public program developed in collaboration with leading cultural institutions in Paris. This program will extend beyond the fair itself, activating several locations throughout the city. This initiative highlights Art Basel’s commitment to engaging with the broader cultural ecosystem of Paris.

A notable feature of the 2024 edition is “Oh La La!,” a new initiative where exhibitors will showcase rarely seen works in their booths from October 18 to 19. This initiative aims to inject fresh energy into the latter half of the show week, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.

The rebranding to Art Basel Paris and the move to the Grand Palais are significant milestones for the fair. The Grand Palais, inaugurated in 1900 for the Paris Universal Exposition, is a symbol of artistic and cultural excellence. Hosting the first fair in this newly renovated venue underscores Art Basel’s dedication to maintaining high standards of presentation and curation.

Set to take place from October 18-20, 2024, with VIP Preview Days on October 16 and 17, Art Basel Paris promises to offer an unparalleled experience of artistic excellence. The fair will coincide with a week of world-class cultural events and exhibitions throughout Paris, further solidifying its role as a central pillar of the global art market.

Tickets for Art Basel Paris are now available on the official website, including reduced rates for students and senior citizens, as well as premium experiences. The show’s Conversations program will take place at the Petit Palais, located across from the Grand Palais, curated by Paris-based curators Pierre-Alexandre Matéos and Charles Teyssou.

With the combination of Art Basel’s global reputation and Paris’s unparalleled cultural offerings, Art Basel Paris is set to be a landmark event in the art world calendar, offering a unique and enriching experience for all attendees.
