This collaboration, led by John Galliano and Christian Louboutin, first appeared in the Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection before its official release on March 12, 2025. The twin capsules: Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin and Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela, reinterpret signature elements from both houses, showcasing their shared focus on innovation, form, and craftsmanship.

This partnership explores the tension between structure and fluidity, tradition and subversion. The two designers, who have known each other since the early days of their careers, create a collection that respects their individual aesthetics while introducing new silhouettes that challenge expectations. The collection launches in select boutiques worldwide and on the digital platforms of both houses.
Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin
Maison Margiela’s signature Tabi evolves through Christian Louboutin’s sculptural approach, introducing a curvier, more feminine silhouette. Instead of slicing the split-toe into the upper, this version builds it from two separate pieces, creating a cordate shape reminiscent of a décolleté. This structural change transforms the Tabi into a more sensual form while maintaining its distinctive identity.
The collection features three styles. The Bridiela Una Strass, set on a 100mm heel, reinterprets the bridal shoe with an emphasis on elegance. Crafted in mesh with handmade crystal embellishments, it reflects elements seen in the Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection. The Loubiella sandal, based on Christian Louboutin’s Rosalie silhouette, enhances the arch of the foot with an asymmetrical strap that wraps across the dorsum and ankle. The Marlougiela ballet flat extends and narrows the Tabi’s signature shape, emphasizing sleek lines and sculptural form.
Material choices reinforce the collection’s refined aesthetic. The Bridiela Una Strass appears in black, silver, and a signature Louboutin blush tone. The Loubiella comes in soft black patent leather or platinum-textured leather with a frost-like finish, echoing the weathered textures of the Artisanal collection. The Marlougiela is available in deep red or black soft patent leather, as well as black, blush, and silver mesh with crystal detailing.
Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela applies its signature decortiqué technique to Christian Louboutin’s most recognizable silhouettes. This approach strips a design to its core structure, exposing elements typically concealed beneath layers of material. By reducing footwear to essential seams, boning, and closures, the collection uncovers new dimensions in traditional construction.
The Bilougiela 25, an ankle-strap sandal with a pointed toe and 100mm heel, deconstructs black patent leather through a process of partial peeling, revealing the structure beneath. The Martinloula, a pump crafted from the Kate Max last, introduces the faux-cul heel cap originally created for the Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection. Strands of leather, draped across the surface, expose the inner framework of the shoe.
The Xrismarteen, an extension of the Martinloula, transforms the concept into a knee-length boot with a collapsed leather effect. Strips of black leather cascade down the shaft, exposing the lining beneath, creating an illusion of controlled decay. The Martoubi 25, a pointed pump in white leather, incorporates a red brushstroke detail across the heel cap, referencing Maison Margiela’s bianchetto technique. This element echoes the origins of Louboutin’s red sole, recalling the moment when nail polish first inspired its creation.
