K-pop superstar Jennie Kim fronts the 27th edition of CR Fashion Book, the Confidential issue, appearing in a cover story photographed by Renell Medrano and styled by Ben Perreira. The feature comes after her solo debut and BLACKPINK’s record-breaking Deadline world tour, marking a moment of reflection for the artist.

For the story, Jennie wears a curated mix of looks from Moncler, Phoebe Philo, Ermanno Scervino, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, JUDE, Tom Ford, and more. In charge of beauty were hair stylist Lee Seon-Yeong, makeup artist Jo Yeon, and manicurist Zola Ganzorigt.

In her conversation with CR’s Digital Director Vienna Vernose, Jennie Kim speaks candidly about the stages of her career, beginning as a teenage trainee and evolving into a global superstar. She shares thoughts on the pressures of fame, the search for personal freedom, and the experience of returning to her group after focusing on solo projects. The interview offers a rare view into her creative mindset and future goals.

Jennie reflects on her fears and the need for change. “I don’t like it when things stay the same for too long. Not moving forward, not changing – I’m afraid of not seeing the life in front of me,” she shares. While admitting she has many fears, she searches for answers that feel honest rather than surface-level.

Discussing her early years in music, Jennie recalls, “At that time, it didn’t really feel so serious for me; it felt like everyone was chasing their dreams, and I felt like I was chasing mine. I didn’t really understand the pressure of stepping into a music career; I was just chasing what I like.”

She also reflects on reconnecting with BLACKPINK after a year of solo activities. “Being on stage with them reminds me of being back at home,” she says. Despite expectations that dynamics might shift, she admits, “Nothing really feels different.” She notes the passion of audiences during the tour: “The people out here have shown us infinite love, which I did not expect. Just to see that passion – you could really see it in their eyes.”

The feature also highlights her solo album Ruby. Jennie Kim frames it as an exploration rather than a final definition of her identity: “I don’t like to separate myself, I like to think I’ve just discovered a new side of me. I can’t quite say I found myself through Ruby, but I’ve discovered the things that I like and things that I don’t.” She sees her work as the start of deeper exploration: “I’m still in the very beginning of my learning steps with music. It made me realize I want to dig deeper into the things that I’ve learned. I’m a big fan of hip-hop and R&B. I’d love to dig deep and find my sound in it and make my own genre out of it, but I will be experimenting with other genres in the future too.”

On manifestation and what lies ahead, Jennie remains grounded: “Ruby could be a great example of my manifestation. I really did this for me.” She describes her process as an ongoing act of self-discovery: “I try to figure it out every day – that’s what I manifest every day. Owning myself more, finding more about myself. Follow my heart – yeah, I’m going to follow my heart.” To read more visit crfashionbook.com.
