adidas is a sportswear brand founded in 1926 in Herzogenaurach, Germany by brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. It began as a small sports-shoe company producing footwear for athletes under the name Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.
In 1949 there was a breakdown in the relationship between two brothers, when Adolf created Adidas and named the brand after himself (Adolf 'Adi' Dassler), and Rudolf established Puma.
Since 1952, the brand uses the three stripes logo, and Dassler even described the brand as "The three stripes company".
Today, the label has collaborations with luxury designers including Stella McCartney, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander Wang, Raf Simons, as well as the celebrities such as Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Stan Smith.
Today adidas is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe.
