Laufey and Lexus introduce the Blue In Green Edition RZ, a one of one custom electric vehicle created in collaboration. The project connects directly to Laufey’s new song “Blue In Green,” which she debuted live on Twitch during a global event presented with Lexus. Her version builds on Miles Davis’ original composition and adds new lyrics to mark his centennial in 2026.

The vehicle operates as a physical extension of the track. It translates the atmosphere of the music into form, drawing from Laufey’s interpretation while referencing Miles Davis and his trumpet. The collaboration ties music and design into a single concept shaped through performance, sound, and material choices.
Laufey described the process as shaping the emotional tone of Davis’ work into the vehicle’s design direction. Erin Davis connected the project to her father’s legacy, noting how his music continues to invite interpretation across disciplines. Lexus positioned the collaboration within its ongoing work across design, culture, and technology, with Senior Manager of Lexus Marketing Sara Lara emphasizing the role of artistic perspective in shaping new ideas within electrified design.
The reveal took place during 100 Miles, a live event streamed on Twitch. Laufey performed her lyrical version of “Blue In Green” as part of the program, which honored one hundred years of Miles Davis.

The design reflects the tone of the composition through a custom exterior that shifts between deep blue and green as light moves across the surface. Brass accents appear on the brake calipers and interior elements, referencing Miles Davis and his instrument. Inside the cabin, burgundy velvet and aged leather recall the material language of a classic instrument case. Laufey’s presence appears throughout the vehicle, from a custom illuminated front badge with her signature “L” to lyrics from her version of the song placed in the trunk.
When the vehicle turns on, it plays the opening notes of Miles Davis’ “Blue In Green.” This detail connects interaction with music, extending the concept beyond visual design into a sensory moment.

“Blue In Green” first appeared on Miles Davis’ 1959 album Kind of Blue and remains a defining work within jazz. Laufey’s version introduces new lyrics while maintaining the structure of the original composition. Released as an Amazon Music Original, the track streams exclusively on the platform. The collaboration forms part of the wider Miles Davis Centennial initiatives, led by the Miles Davis Estate and Reservoir. The 100 Miles event remains available to watch on Twitch, while further details on Lexus’ electrified lineup can be found through the brand’s official channels.
