Air Jordan 7 Tennis Day Releases September 9

The AJ7 pairs Phantom with Lime Blast and Pink Blast in a Challenge Court-inspired release

Jordan Brand introduces the Air Jordan 7 Tennis Day, a new Phantom, Lime Blast, Pink Blast and Anthracite colorway inspired by Nike’s Challenge Court era. The release takes the AJ7 into early-1990s tennis territory through neon accents, mixed materials and graphic details tied to the period’s footwear and apparel.

Phantom dominates the upper, giving the sneaker a neutral base for the brighter sections. Lime Blast and Pink Blast add fluorescent color through the design, while Anthracite brings a darker contrast to the palette. Jordan Brand combines leather, synthetic leather, suede and textile sections throughout the upper, creating a mix of smooth, textured and breathable surfaces.

The materials support the tennis reference as much as the colors. Challenge Court became known for highly visible palettes, expressive graphics and performance clothing associated with Nike Tennis during the early 1990s. The AJ7 translates those references into a basketball silhouette through the neon detailing and mixed construction.

Additional graphics develop the theme further. Oversized JORDAN lettering appears on the tongue, while a “23-Love” label appears behind it. The detail combines Michael Jordan’s number 23 with “love,” the tennis term for zero, creating one of the clearest links between the Air Jordan identity and the sneaker’s tennis concept.

The Air Jordan 7 itself dates to 1992, when Tinker Hatfield created the seventh model in Michael Jordan’s signature line. Its design introduced an inner sleeve influenced by Nike Huarache technology and removed visible Nike branding from the exterior. Those features gave the AJ7 a distinct structure that continues on the “Tennis Day” edition.

Jordan Brand keeps the model’s familiar mid-cut construction and heel pull tab for this release. A foam midsole supports full-length Nike Air cushioning, which absorbs impact underfoot, while a rubber outsole provides traction. The combination retains the performance structure of the AJ7 underneath the new color treatment.

The “Tennis Day” concept specifically references Nike’s rebellious Challenge Court period, including the players, clothing and footwear associated with the line. Andre Agassi became one of the most recognizable figures connected with Challenge Court, helping define its early-1990s visual identity through fluorescent colors and expressive tennis apparel.

The Air Jordan 7 Retro Tennis Day releases on September 9, 2026. Adult pairs retail for $215 and Big Kids’ sizing retails for $155.
