Wan Hung presented his Autumn Winter 2017/18 collection during London Collections: Men, inspired by his native Hainan island in China and memories of the uniquely Hainanese Chinese New Year celebrations.
FALL WINTER 2017/18 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
Wan Hung’s reference points and silhouettes for Autumn/Winter 2017 are inspired by the traditional Chinese Tang suit robes blended with Western tailoring. Prints are developed from the Chinese character for ‘Good Luck’. Traditional techniques such as complex Chinese knotting are combined with innovations including glitter fabrics and yarns from Italy, Portuguese denim, rubberised PVC from Korea, high tech wadding from France and iron-free 100% cotton shirting from producers in Turkey. Pooling the finest textile innovations and fabrications from around the globe, they are given unity through a unified colour palette of red, silver and gold, off-set with an ocean blue in homage to his island home on Hainan. – from Wan Hung
