Ermanno Scervino presented his women’s spring summer 2018 collection at Milan Fashion Week and it was evident that he paired apparently clashing elements in his designs. But in the end the beauty of harmony matters most and so old moulds are broken and new balances are created. “The collection is a tribute to the slip dress – the season’s must-have – paired with mannish outerwear to create a continuous mix of masculine and feminine codes. In classic satin versions, in duchess satin with lace details and contrast colours, or embellished with a crystal base and layered with lace, the petticoat is worn under brightly coloured trenches, bomber jackets, lace fur coats and oversized down jackets. For the evening, crystals and lace details elevate the slip dress into a gown.”
