Discover John Galliano‘s Spring Summer 2018 Don’t Cry Baby: it’s a Galliano Bad Girl Makeover womenswear collection, presented during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. For the Spring Summer 2018 season Galliano embraces the image of the bad girl.
“As an interpretative homage to John Waters’s cult romance musical, Cry Baby, creative director Bill Gaytten has channeled a romance between star-crossed lovers—a veritable push-and-pull of tailleur and flou. With the film’s Drapes and Squares in mind, he proposes a buoyant intermingling of Teddy Boy suits and prom dresses in a sugary palette of pastels.
True to the atelier spirit of the Maison, updated details advance these looks beyond mere camp. A petal print silk chiffon is re-embroidered with floaty petals; full-skirt dresses are underpinned with metallic lurex for added edge; men’s shirts are enhanced with rakish, ruched plackets, while boxy jackets boast shawl collars of leopard; bias-cut dresses emerge from the boudoir; handsome frock coats evoke Galliano’s continued love affair with historicism.“
