Cochains launched its collection of handbags for Spring Summer 2018 season. Inspired by the arts, the collection interprets Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Led by a creative team with backgrounds in graphic, accessory, and interior design, Cochains is a bicontinental brand, hailing from cosmopolitan cities, New York and Paris. Inspired by the arts, its ethos defies seasonality and crafts essentials that are timeless and cherished from one generation to the next. Spring/Summer 2018 interprets Stanely Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Filmed in 1968, it projects the future in 2001. Even then, Kubrick’s meticulous eye discerned many shapes and forms that we still consider modern and beautiful today; these elements transcend time. Similarly, the season’s handbags, handcrafted from the finest leather and pony hair, boast classic lines and structured silhouettes with custom-designed hardware, molded to mimic the geometric shapes found in the film, then finished with 18k yellow gold and sterling silver. The palette, a riot of color from lavender to bright yellow, is a nod to the final scene, in which astronaut Bowman, lost in the universe, is pulled into a vortex of colored light. He exclaims, “My God, it’s full of stars.” The collection is designed with the modern woman in mind; she is informed and independent, valuing her power of choice as well as her sense of style. It is feminine as it is bold, from day to night, like the Cochains woman. – from Cochains
