A custom floral print, inspired by a hand painted silk scarf passed down to the designer, evokes the glorious beauty of Andalucía’s vibrant bougainvillea. Other custom prints feature miniature carnations or bluebells and jasmine. A quilt print which incorporates the various prints in a “patchwork” effect, embodies the handwork which is so inherently part of the label’s DNA. Handcraft remains at the forefront of Alejandra’s timeless designs, most evident in this season’s easeful knitwear. One standout dress, constructed entirely from small pieces of multi-color knits, features various stitch techniques, including ribs and cables. Masterfully patchworked together, it drapes effortlessly on the body highlighting the detailed handwork in Alejandra’s artisanal knitwear. The knits are reprised in punchy hues of fuchsia and red, or in earthen hues of brown and coral. With oversize cables, voluminous sleeves, and asymmetric hems, pullover knits are relaxed and refined. This season’s version of Alejandra’s signature blanket coat is knitted entirely from alpaca silk-blend yarn creating interesting volumes while remaining lightweight. In an effort to continue sustainable practices, a group of hand knitted and crocheted pieces are crafted using recycled cashmere yarns, customized in color to match the palette of the collection. Supple Italian lamb suede and matte Italian Nappa leather, with a butter soft finish, are custom-dyed in this season’s colors: deep plum and teal, dusty blue, and a unique sandy rust. A selection of the leathers and suedes have been treated with a perforated pattern, adding to the modernity and distinctiveness of the designs.
