Discover Marcelo Burlon’s Spring Summer 2019 Menswear Collection, presented on Saturday 16th June at Megawatt Court, during the ongoing Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by workwear and Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the collection features parkas, segmented hoodies, lab jackets, bermuda shorts, dad jeans and capes.
Retro-futurism as a vision of progressive utilitarianism. Workwear suited for close encounters of the third kind. Parkas, segmented hoodies, lab jackets; striped shirts, bermuda shorts and dad jeans; cropped tops, capes. Useful pockets aplenty on trousers and vests. Signage stripes. Pharmaceutical graphics. An exploration of the artificial. Pvc, crunchy parachute, spandex, two-tone coatings, mesh. Fluorescent brights: pink, yellow, blue. Black, white. A high-impact mix highlighted by practical shapes. Functional proportions. Straightforward precision. The hallucinogenic reality of the space-age, in a real metropolitan context. – from Marcelo Burlon
