Despite missing the momentum of the fashion scene’s fixation on the digital fashion week runways Mugler’s Spring Summer 2021 visual presentation easily tops the season’s list. Starting with the short film featuring the show-stopping cast joined by CGI Bella Hadid to the quintessentially Paris imagery becoming the part of this casting.

The striking video presenting the last collection by the label’s Casey Cadwallader shows the creative director feeling at home and flexing his own muscle within the house shaped by aesthetic so closely connected to it’s eponymous founder. Mugler Spring Summer 2021 collection is on the pulse of the now by finding a formula taking it a step ahead of the current trends. Cadwallader presents a body hugging and meticulously cut collection turned into a truly sculptural fashion escapade.

The label whose success is closely tied to its fragrance empire has had a tricky road in the past decade when it comes to it’s ready-to-wear line. After the explosion in the eighties under Thierry Mugler himself the brand’s fashion line fell of the map only to come back on the radar in 2012. That year the house appointed the then emerging Nicola Formichetti, the stylist who worked on creating the head turing image of Lady Gaga. With Formichetti and Mugler in label’s ranks Cadwallader had big shoes to feel, yet with Spring Summer 2021 we are seeing the designer finally feeling at home within the Mugler ranks.
Model cast itself embodies the spirit of the label Cadwallader is working hard on presenting, the digital Bella Hadid is joined this season by Ariish Wol, Debra Shaw, Dourane Fall, Enantios Dromos, Kai Isaiah Jamal, Lidia Judickaite, Raya Martigny, Shygirl and Xu Meen. The cast is modeling against the backdrops of Paris often missed by the tourists. Locations such as Ricardo Bofill’s Postmodern Les Espaces d’Abraxas at Noisy-le-Grand and Emile Aillaud’s Cité Pablo Picasso at Nanterre push forward Cadwallader’s vision for the collection. The slick Summer 2021 outing is comprised of twenty-four looks featuring everything you need and must have from Mugler. From cut-throat cool Mugler blazers to body hugging dresses set for head-turning moments.

In charge of the striking photography was Carlijn Jacobs who just as the videographer worked closely on the creative direction set by Casey Cadwallader. Jacos regularly has covers of M Le Monde, Purple and Pop magazine under her belt, and most recently the cover of Vogue Paris October 2020 issue. To style the Mugler Spring Summer 2021 collection the team has worked with Fashion Stylist Haley Wollens. The styling on Fall Winter 2020 and Summer 2020 runways were under Wollens’ helm whose portfolio features campaigns for Miu Miu, Emilio Pucci and Alexander Wang to name a few.
With Mugler’s fast paced expense it is hard to pinpoint the label’s top seller, yet the house’s growing appetites are now slowly but confidently taking on denim as well. The geometric aesthetic by Cadwallader with an artistic ease reinvents the everyday pair of simple jean trousers for Summer 2021.
