Discover AREA Pre-Fall 2021 collection, that was inspired by the love of dressing up, presented with a campaign starring top models Alek Wek, Precious Lee, Lindsey Wixson, Connie Flemming, Yumi Nu, and Charlie Nishimura directed by Ethan James Green. In charge of art direction was Julia Wagner, with styling from Clare Byrne, and casting direction by Bert Martirosyan. Beauty is work of hair stylist Evanie Frausto, makeup artist Raisa Flowers, and manicurist Naomi Yasuda. Production by Second Name, creative production by Kareem Burke.
The playful collection reinterprets the mundane and familiar into exciting alternatives. It brings ultra-feminine tailoring, while the silhouettes fuse ‘New Look’ and 80’s Brit-punk elements. With the Pre-Fall 2021 collection, Area launched denim looks, the classic pieces are reimagined with brand’s signature codes. The collection was also inspired by New York’s energy shift, and it reflects the city’s newfound hope, positivity and love.
“Shapes range from sexy sweetheart cropped blazers to boxy men’s jackets with giant heart cut-outs. Hourglass shaped jackets with detachable hip pads and sharp, black, evening tailoring are both hand-embroidered with crystal. Luxe eco-cashmere knitwear is realized as crisscross cardigans in grass green and black. Traditional hand-crochet motifs are translated into fuzzy fuchsia separates for day, and bejeweled tops and dresses for evening. Our signature heart motif is used to make graphic cut-outs on tailoring but also fun, sexy bustier and crop tops desirable for all occasions.” – from Area
