Designer Kim Jones presented FENDI Fall Winter 2021.22 Haute Couture Collection, that was inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini’s vision of Rome, with a fashion film directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name movie director). The collection, that blends the old with the new, pays tribute to Rome, and explores the Eternal City’s history through contemporary lenses. Fendi selected the diverse cast to reflect the cultural crossroads of Ancient Rome. The cast includes supermodels such as Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Malgosia Bela, Mariacarla Boscono, Mica Argañaraz, Paulina Porizkova, Rianne Van Rompaey, and Vittoria Ceretti among others.
Pasolini observed Rome become modern – and that is what is interesting to me: connecting eras, the old with the new, the past with the present. Rome is a fascinating city because it has so many pasts – and I was drawn to Pasolini because I have always been inspired by his vision of the world. He is something of an outsider in Roman history, but one whose voice remains constant. – Kim Jones
