This year has brought many Jordan Brand Retro editions to the delight of fans of this famous brand. One of the most expected releases for this Holiday season is the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Red Thunder’ sneakers.

The rumors of the release started swirling around at the beginning of the 2021, and we’re finally getting closer to the release date. We have all the information about the new retro piece, the release on GOAT and more, so read on!

HISTORY

The Air Jordan 4 was originally released in 1989 and made its debut with four colorways released during the year. These were based strongly on the color schemes of the previous shoe, which is why clear parallels to these can be seen. Accordingly, we get to see two white-based Bulls colorways, which are known as White / Cement and Fire Red, among others. In addition, the Black / Red and Military Blue versions were dropped at this time. Meeting the expectations of the gigantic Air Jordan 3 was definitely anything but easy. But if anyone was up to the task, it was certainly none other than Tinker Hatfield. The design of the fourth model does not differ too much from the Air Jordan 3, because it also relies on a medium height and a visible Air Sole. However, the Nike Air Jordan 4 was a lot lighter and more streamlined than its popular predecessor. The absolute recognition feature is the grid on the tongue and the side panels of the shoe. The unique lacing system with the unmistakable “wings” provided even better stability. That was also the birth of the “Flight” concept for the Air Jordan series. And as we now know, Mr. Hatfield and Nike have mastered this task more than confidently. The Nike Air Jordan 4 started exactly where the Air Jordan 3 left off.

As is usual for the Air Jordan series, the legendary namesake was of course responsible for a lot of hype with this model. During the NBA season 1988-89, Michael Jordan wore his newest model and was able to achieve the best season so far in this period. Especially in the playoffs at that time, Michael managed to stage the sneaker better than ever. Constant companions at all the epic moments of the season were of course Michael’s Nike Air Jordan 4, who were able to stage his unbelievable hits better than any other sneaker!

SNEAKERS

The Air Jordan 4 didn’t introduce innovative technologies, but it wasn’t necessary at all. Everything that the AJ4 brought was highly functional and aesthetically pleasing. As already mentioned, the sneaker was kept in the typical mid-top style and equipped with the proven, visible Air Sole. However, with the AJ4, a little extra air was placed in the front area of the shoe to provide improved support. The special wing lacing system also provides several eyelets for maximum customization. Furthermore, a large pull loop makes it easy to slip into the sneaker. With the introduction of the ‘Bred’ colorway on the AJ4, the soft nubuck leather was also used more and more and became a regular on other models. The ‘Red Thunder’ are a mix of the original ‘Thunder’ and ‘Bred’ colorways and styles, and they bring a fresh and modern twist of the old colorways.

Recalling the ‘Thunder’ colorway, the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Red Thunder’ emerges with similar color-blocking, albeit in a different mix of hues. The shoe’s upper is built with a black nubuck base, highlighted by red throughout, including on the molded eyelets and quarter panel. More red marks the midsole, which includes visible Air for cushioning, while a two-tone rubber outsole is included for traction. – from Flight Club.

RELEASE DATE

The Air Jordan 4 Retro “Red Thunder” is set to drop on December 23rd for the price of $190 USD, and here you can check the other 2021 sneaker releases.
