Fashion brand Camilla and Marc enlists supermodel, actress and author Paulina Porizkova to star in their Resort 2022 Play campaign captured by fashion photographer Drew Jarrett. In charge of styling was Natasha Royt, with beauty from hair stylist Jenny Kim, and makeup artist Frank B. The collection, that was inspired by the contemporary dance performance “Play” by Alexander Ekman – a piece that contemplates the place and meaning of play on our lives, celebrates women, and brings a sense of playfulness, and optimism. For the season, designers Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman focus on ease and refinement achieved through softness and proportion.
I never imagined I’d be modelling in my fifties. Partly because it’s always been an age limiting career, like athletics or dance, but mostly because I sincerely hoped I would have no desire or need to do so. But what I have learned in the forty years since I started modelling is to never say never. Modelling now, at the age of 56, with an unaltered face and body, suddenly seems significant. I see the distinct lack of visibility of women my age looking their age, proudly and beautifully. And this is the gap I’m stepping into: not to shame women who refuse to age, but to offer an alternative. Self-acceptance is, after all, the one thing age has over youth. – Paulina Porizkova
Bringing space, a sense of lightness and reprieve from the heaviness of the world into the wardrobe this season was so important, particularly since this collection was designed during lockdown periods in Sydney. Personally, I find a huge amount of joy and optimism through dress, and so I wanted to create these moments in the every day by bringing a sense of depth and rawness as well as positivity and freedom. – Creative Director, Camilla Freeman-Topper
