French fashion brand OUEST PARIS presented their Spring Summer 2023 Menswear Collection, with a lookbook captured by photographer Inès Manai. For the season, designer Arthur Robert was inspired by Californian beaches, warm nights and space travel. He draws the inspiration from the 70’s imagery when American hopes were focused on NASA, the rise of surf culture on the southwestern coast of France, and kids dreaming of California in a conservative era.

The sportswear of the 70’s as fantasized in the 2000s, with raglan sleeves and corduroy tracksuits. The DIY spirit of the Los Angeles skate scene, shorts cut out of suit pants and slacks. Ouest Paris unveils the FB, a signature sneaker inspired by skateboard codes with Western details. Denim is still a common thread, it’s organic or recycled. Flared jeans and pieces in vegan leather remind of New York’s 70’s gay scene chronicled by Sunil Gupta, and Alvin Baltrop’s photographs of meeting spots on the disused Hudson banks. A series of prints by artist Jack Rothert Garcia is drawn from the popular gay press of the time and plastered on baseball tees and formal shirts like cryptic mantras. – from press release
