Nike’s upcoming Air Jordan release is an iconic, highly sought-after colorway that has been fully vintage-treated. The Air Jordan 1 High ‘Lost & Found’ may be the most hyped release of 2022. Releasing as a modern interpretation of the famous “Chicago” colorway, the sneaker has distressing all throughout, but especially at the black areas at the heel, the red outsole, and all the way down the white leather underlays. It’s not necessary to be a sneakerhead to understand the significance of this specific Jordan Brand colorway. The greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, wore one of the originals from 1985 during his early NBA career. Around the end of 2021, rumors about the retro began to circulate.  Most of 2022 was characterized by leaks of both images and information, which culminated in an affirmation of its existence in October.

Now that we have the official photographs and the release date is approaching, let’s take a closer look at the legendary sneaker.

Air Jordan 1 History

The Air Jordan 1, which was designed by Peter Moore, debuted back in 1985. The announcement coincided with Michael Jordan’s first NBA season. The Jordan 1’s style was quite straightforward and similar to other basketball sneakers of the time. Moore was set on breaking the color barrier of footwear at the time, since sneakers in the early were predominantly white with an accent color. The red and black Air Jordans certainly made the difference.

The Air Jordan made its debut with a number of Nike’s recognizable basketball characteristics, including a compressed air pocket in the heel, increased ankle support, and a toe overlay. The initial logo, which featured wings on the side of the shoe, set a high standard for subsequent design work.

The first pair of sneakers weren’t as technologically advanced as many that would come after, but they were no less exciting. The debate around the sneaker was its main claim to fame. Jordan was fined $5,000 for breaking the uniform rule each time he entered the court wearing his black, red, and white sneakers—a fee that Nike was eager to cover in order to fan the flames and reap the benefits of the marketing.

Air Jordan 1 High ‘Lost & Found’ Design

The forthcoming sneaker will be shaped more like the 1985 release, with distressing and ageing applied on the upper and midsole. The color scheme of the Air Jordan 1 High “Lost and Found” was inspired by the Chicago Bulls, a team that Michael Jordan played for in the 1980s and 1990s. The sneaker is dressed in a classic white leather upper with red overlay panels and black accents on the Swoosh logo and ankle collar. The cracked leather finish that covers the whole upper and gives the sneaker a vintage appearance is the shoe’s main feature. A white midsole and a red outsole round out the design.

The packaging, “receipt,” misaligned box top, and other features pay homage to the chase of the “Chicago” Air Jordan 1 after its 1984-1985 release, which was inspired by hunting the basements and storage rooms of mom-and-pop shops back in the day. The vintage Air Jordan 1 box with its aged craftsmanship is undoubtedly something to admire. To honor the legacy of the classic sneaker, retro Jordan ads and sale advertisements is included with the sneaker. Additionally, this release is anticipated to have the most quantity of any AJ1 to yet. Check out the official photographs below.
