The Air Jordan 3 is making a comeback to retail in its iconic “White Cement” colorway to mark its 35th anniversary. The upcoming model will be the most accurate rendition of the original release. As part of Jordan Brand’s “Reimagined” line, the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” will be reintroduced for the first time since 2013. This will be the first Reimagined Air Jordan that is not an Air Jordan 1.

The “White Cement” colorway is one of the most coveted Air Jordan 3 sneaker designs among collectors. The “Reimagined” version of this upcoming release puts a twist on the iconic model with an aged, vintage aesthetic inspired by the Air Jordan 1 “Lost and Found” release from November 2022.

History of the Air Jordan 3

The Air Jordan 3 was designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield and was first released in 1988. The Air Jordan 3 was Tinker Hatfield’s first creation for the Jordan brand in their collaboration spanning over three decades. This collaboration allowed Tinker to create the now-famous elephant print.

Operating on the right sideline, Michael Jordan made three between-the-legs dribbles to Pistons guard Vinnie Johnson. He pretended to go middle before launching a half-spin. His right foot was firmly placed on the hardwood as he trimmed it back. Jordan was unhindered and able to shoot, making one of his signature midrange jumpers as Johnson was unable to recover.

He shredded defenses a lot in the 1987–88 season, and that basket was only one of them. At year’s end, he had won the MVP award for the regular season, the MVP award for the All-Star Game, the award for defensive player of the year, the award for scoring, and the award for thefts. Also, he triumphed in the Dunk Contest. He accomplished all while donning the  the legendary Air Jordan 3.

The sneaker introduced some novelties that were never done before in basketball shoes. The midcut silhouette was one of them. Without all of the bulky, rubbery material covering it, it was a lighter-weight construction. The Air Jordan 3 also introduced two Nike staples. It sported a visible Nike Air bubble and the now-infamous Jumpman logo.

The Air Jordan 3 is still one of the most recognizable sneaker silhouettes in the world today. The ‘White Cement Reimagined’ Air Jordan 3 will be the sixth version of the colorway that Michael Jordan famously wore in the 1988. The original retro was introduced in 1994, and subsequent iterations with the “Free Throw Line” option appeared in 2003, 2011, 2013, and 2018.

Air Jordan 3 Retro ‘White Cement Reimagined’ Design

The official colorway for the Air Jordan 3 White Cement Reimagined is “Summit White/Fire Red-Cement Grey.” In order to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the introduction of the original 1988 edition, the 2023 version will be designed and built in accordance with the original ’88 specifications. Elephant pattern overlays are placed at the toe and heel areas of premium white leather uppers with perforated sections. White laces, red insoles printed with contrast black branding, and red tongues with Jumpman designs serve as further details. Yellowed eyelets, “NIKE AIR” heel counters, and midsoles with gray rubber outsoles complete the sneaker design.
