BTS‘ very own V is all set to embark on his solo journey in the musical world. BIGHIT Music stirred excitement among fans on August 8th with the announcement of V’s solo debut album titled, ‘Layover’, which is scheduled to release on September 8. The album promises an intimate musical experience with six tracks, including the much-anticipated bonus piano rendition of “Slow Dancing”.
Previously, V made notable strides as a soloist, gracing the Emerging Artists Chart and even making his mark on the Hot 100.
According to the label, the album, which features tracks like “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” and “For Us,” is best experienced when listened to in sequence. “Slow Dancing” has been highlighted as the central piece of the collection and is described as a throwback to the 1970s romantic soul era, exuding a relaxed, free-spirited vibe.
A sneak peek into the album was shared in the form of a 15-second visualizer. It showcases several album packages floating and settling on an apartment balcony, concluding with the album’s title, ‘Layover’, dominating the screen. Notably, the ‘V’ in the title is accentuated in a vivid purple.
Elaborating on the tracks, “Love Me Again” is touted as a compelling R&B number that showcases V’s signature deep voice. Meanwhile, “For Us” wraps up the album as a poignant pop R&B piece, touching listeners with V’s soulful vocals and his distinctive lyrical style. Fans will be delighted to know that each track on the album will be accompanied by an official music video.
Hee Jin Min, NewJeans creative director and president of ADOR, played a pivotal role in shaping ‘Layover’. Min’s expertise was tapped into for overseeing various facets of the album, ranging from its music and choreography to its design and promotional strategies. V’s past solo endeavors include hits such as “Stigma,” “Singularity,” “Winter Bear,” and “Inner Child.” His latest solos before ‘Layover’ include “Christmas Tree” from the Netflix K-drama, Our Beloved Summer, and a rendition of the festive favorite, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”
