LOEWE dives into a surreal and poetic realm with its latest women’s campaign. Photographed by the prolific fashion photographer David Sims, the visuals take us on a journey that blurs the lines of reality and the ethereal.
Actress and LOEWE Global Brand Ambassador, Taylor Russell, is joined by the internationally recognized talent, Tang Wei. Together, they exist in a world suspended in time, undefined and free on the set of Loewe’s new campaign. This ethereal world captures the duo in playful moments – with glasses and mirrors, holding the innovative foldable Puzzle tote, and the luxuriously tactile nappa leather Squeeze Bag. This latter piece stands out as a soft sculptural masterpiece, complete with a customisable-length chain and a uniquely squeezy handle.
The accessories showcased beautifully signify LOEWE’s impeccable craftsmanship. The dresses worn by Taylor and Tang are narratives within themselves. The fluid duchesse satin dresses cloaked in blur prints embody a sensual femininity, while the square-lined bonded-nappa looks in pastel tones playfully evoke memories of Polly Pocket pieces. Beyond this, the campaign exudes texture with lavish materials like feathers, rhinestones, brushed suede, and shearling.
Drawing a parallel to the Loewe men’s FW23 campaign, there’s a sense of allegorical symbolism. This surreal narrative continues with models portrayed in repose on tables, draped in feather dresses, clutching the Squeeze bag. Complementing these visuals are the still life shots, a direct confrontation with desire, showcasing coveted objects such as the Puzzle Edge, Flamenco, Goya, Paseo, as well as the Toy and Bow pumps.
Chinese actress Tang Wei, winner of numerous international accolades for her role in “Decision to Leave” (2022) by Park Chan-wook, is poised to shine in the upcoming “Wonderland.” On the other side of the globe, Canadian talent Taylor Russell, known for Luca Guadagnino’s chilling indie film “Bones and All” (2022) and “Waves” (2019), is set to impress in the National Theatre’s “The Effect” and the anticipated “Mother Couch” alongside Ewan McGregor and Ellen Burstyn. Russell’s horizon also holds the intriguing “Hope” with Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, and Hoyeon.
