Sportswear brand Adidas and designer Yohji Yamamoto teamed up once more to introduce their latest and boldest silhouette yet, the Y-3 Gendo Sneaker. This avant-garde sneaker pushes the boundaries of design by incorporating a fully hollowed out TPU plate, originally crafted by Adidas’ innovation team for performance midsoles. When fused with the iconic Superstar model, it results in an expressive and dynamic form, epitomizing the fusion of Yohji Yamamoto’s vision with the signature aesthetics of the Three Stripes.
The Y-3 Gendo Sneaker made its debut on the Yohji Yamamoto runway, boldly experimenting with the concept of negative space and elevation. The innovative silhouette features a fully hollowed-out hard polymer plate and a premium leather upper. Combining Adidas’ archival elements, the Y-3 GENDO Superstar fuses the futuristic midsole plate with a one-to-one Superstar upper. On the other hand, the Y-3 Gendo ProModel elevates the design further with a high-top Pro Model upper and a departure from conventional lacing, opting for an expressive zip closure.
