In an exciting development for sneaker enthusiasts, the Air Force 1, a classic staple in the realm of basketball footwear, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Initially introduced in 1982, the Air Force 1 not only revolutionized basketball shoes with the inclusion of Nike Air technology but also transitioned into an iconic symbol of streetwear.

The latest iteration of this beloved design comes through a collaboration between Nike and 1017 ALYX 9SM, led by the innovative Matthew M. Williams, who teased the collaboration on Instagram a few days ago. This partnership, following the success of the luxurious high-top AF1 series in eight colorways launched at the 1017-ALYX-9SM runway show at Paris Fashion Week in January 2020, now presents the ALYX AF1 Low.
The ALYX AF1 Low is crafted from ultra-premium sail leather and extends its refined material from the toebox to the quarters and collar liner. It features distinctive details such as lighter cap embellishments from 1017 ALYX 9SM, along with the label’s branding stamped on the lateral heel. Enhancing its unique character are special lace locks inscribed with “1017” on the right foot and “9SM” on the left.
Aesthetically, the shoe strikes a balance between minimalism and luxury. Available in both crisp black and white colorways, the design includes a tonal midsole and outsole. The traditional Air-cushioned midsole and star-studded pivot circle tread remain, paying homage to the original AF1’s roots. However, the Alyx edition brings an elevated touch with its premium tumbled leather, gleaming metal eyelets, and co-branded lace dubraes, underscoring the collaboration’s impact.
The 1017ALYX 9SM AF1 low, in its new white and black colorways, is set to launch exclusively on alyxstudio.com on December 7th, 2023.
