DSQUARED2 runway show for Fall Winter 2024 shows us how to play on the duality of raw and refined elements within a fashion realm. The brand’s signature style codes were brought to life by an intriguing concept: models showcasing a metamorphosis from day to night attire.
The collection was a striking display of contrasts. The ‘raw’ aspect was embodied through rugged styles, a hallmark of DSQUARED2. Denim, a key material, was reimagined with ultra-detailed effects – jeans splattered with mud and snow, artistically patched and weathered. This was complemented by distressed leather and fringed furry outerwear, paired with fair isle knits in oversized and slouchy shapes. Men’s daywear was dominated by jersey shorts with holes, trapper hats, and vintage-look shearlings, setting a tone of rugged sophistication. While Dan and Dean themselves played on the concept of duality, taking the runway themselves in the finale.
In stark contrast, the ‘refined’ segment dazzled with evening wear. Tailoring was at the forefront, with sharply cut suits, plunging collars, and accessories like shiny metal jewelry with colored stones adding a touch of glamour. The use of luxurious fabrics like glossy pony, maxi sequins, and velvet in women’s attire exuded a sultry sparkle, while men’s night attire transformed into transparent chiffon shirts and sparkling velvet pants, oozing elegance and charm.
The show’s highlight was the visual representation of transformation. A men’s pea coat reimagined into a double-breasted tux and a puffer parka into a faux-pony anorak showcased the brand’s innovative approach to design. Women’s attire underwent a similar transformation, with layered casual wear morphing into exquisite evening gowns.
