Wool and checks signal a nod to sartorial refinement, while the collection’s eclectic characters – from handsome Teddy girls and Upper East Side traditionalists to new wave academics and downtown Italian American fashionistas – bring a diverse array of styles to life. These figures move through the city with grace and resolute style, their outfits a proof of Wickstead’s ability to blend traditional elegance with offbeat flair.
This season also brings collaboration with Grenson, the heritage shoemaker, introducing a welted loafer inspired by Teddy boy fashion. Crafted in England from polished Bookbinder leather and adorned with elongated tassels, these shoes encapsulate the collection’s homage to past styles while steering them into the present with a sense of irreverence and rebellion.
The unveiling of the Autumn Winter 2024 collection took place in the former London Film Museum, located in the heart of Covent Garden. This choice of venue, with its graphic and atmospheric space, perfectly echoed the subterranean energy of New York City that the collection aimed to capture.
