GmbH‘s Spring 2025 collection, titled “Resistance Through Rituals,” brings attention to the pressing social and political questions of our time. Designers Benjamin and Serhat, drawing from their backgrounds as queer children of Muslim immigrants in Germany, pose questions about the nature and onset of fascism. They reflect on whether the resurgence of such ideologies could be recognized early enough, questioning if it would manifest through overt actions or subtle societal shifts.
The collection is an exploration of these fears and a manifesto against the gradual erosion of rights and freedoms. It interrogates if the signs of fascism are evident in the treatment of refugees, the suppression of free speech, the crackdown on artistic expression, or the increasing violence against protesters and marginalized communities.
“Resistance Through Rituals” serves as a form of protest and empowerment. The garments are designed to symbolize protection and readiness for battle, merging fashion with activism in a bold statement of defiance. Pieces like cinched-waist tailored jackets combined with boxer’s gowns, patchwork tops with micro boxing shorts, and sharp-toed sneakers make models ready for the challenges of a contentious world.
The runway show becomes a platform for resistance, featuring a diverse cast of friends and models who follow the spirit of the collection. These individuals, many of whom are active in the resistance themselves, represent the courage and determination needed to push back against oppressive forces. They are the real and imagined heroes of our times, drawn from both reality and the childhood fantasies of the designers.
GmbH celebrates these figures and the core values upon which it was founded—love and justice. “Resistance Through Rituals” is a declaration of the brand’s commitment to these ideals. Take a closer look at the collection in the Gallery below:
