Nanushka Spring Summer 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week spotlights not only of the brand’s 20th anniversary but also the brands commitment to craftsmanship and innovative design. Under the creative leadership of Founder Sandra Sándor, the collection showcases an evolution that honors the past while seamlessly turning towards the future. The team behind Nanushka has poured immense effort into this collection, and their dedication certainly deserves this moment in the spotlight. It’s heartening to see such craftsmanship and innovation on display at such a prestigious platform.

The collection draws heavily on Sándor’s two decades of design experience, emphasizing a “human touch” in fashion production—a timely reminder of the personal connection and care embedded in each garment. This season, inspiration was harvested from art history and design books, a nod to the traditional roots of creative research and the tactile pleasure of paper. These elements are ingeniously translated into the fabric manipulation and paper cutting techniques that dominate the collection, highlighting the theme of returning to basics while pushing creative boundaries.

A standout feature is the incorporation of excess material, reflecting Nanushka’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Through techniques like slicing, fringing, and layering pleated poplin, the collection breathes new life into leftover fabrics, showcasing a cycle of rebirth that aligns with modern sustainability practices. This approach is not only environmentally conscious but also creatively enriching, as it introduces textured, layered looks that are both intricate and innovative.

The collection’s hero pieces include a modular cape crafted from a mix of regenerated leather and wool silk, and paper-knitted forms with tree-shaped crochet cutouts—each piece a testament to Nanushka’s signature blend of texture and form. The introduction of new knitting techniques to repurpose older fabrics adds a layer of depth to the collection, reinforcing the theme of thoughtful reinvention.

On the more technical side, new techniques like fabric looping create a 3D effect that enhances both the visual and tactile dimensions of the garments. This season also experiments with proportions and balance, exploring how color, scale, and silhouette interact to define the Nanushka aesthetic. The innovative use of poplin fur and tassels in the KoborTM technique further underscores this focus, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern styling.

Nanushka Spring Summer 2025 Colors

The collection’s palette is dominated by neutral tones, with strategic injections of henna, red orange, olive, and lime to refresh the classic black and cream base. Patterns are reimagined, offering variations like cheetah green/yellow and a new take on stripes, adding a playful yet sophisticated twist to the designs. Nanushka’s accessories also see significant advancements, particularly with the Sandi Bag. Available in both black and moonbeam, this hero accessory features Alt-Nappa tiles hand-stitched together, adorned with house Kopjafa symbols—another fine example of how Nanushka marries craftsmanship with utility.

Nanushka’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a profound reflection on twenty years of fashion innovation, characterized by a deep respect for material and craftsmanship. It’s a collection that not only looks back with nostalgia but also forward with a vibrant spirit of innovation. I am thrilled to see such a dedicated team receive the recognition they deserve and am delighted to witness their continued evolution at New York Fashion Week.
