Campillo ’s Spring 2025 collection marks an evolution of his creative journey, building on the foundation laid by his previous season. Last year’s collection was all about minimalism, focusing on stripping away non-essential elements to highlight fine details and subtle textures. This season, Patricio Campillo takes that exploration further, but with an explosive twist.

Drawing inspiration from Mexican volcanoes, Campillo connects natural forces to the duality of peace and violence, serenity and destruction. Volcanoes have long influenced Mexican ecosystems, cities, and even postmodern architecture, particularly in the Pedregal neighborhood of Mexico City. This metaphor of transition from liquid lava to solid rock is mirrored in the techniques used throughout the collection, such as ombré color effects and the interplay of textures. The collection highlights structured tailoring, with larger-than-life proportions and a deeper exploration of draping across a variety of materials, showcasing the designer’s refined skillset.

Rather than chasing trends, Campillo’s focus remains on establishing a consistent identity for his brand. Each season builds on the last, allowing his aesthetic language to grow organically. This continuity is key to his vision, as he believes in fostering a brand that has a lasting cultural impact, rather than adhering to the fleeting nature of fashion trends. His approach resonates particularly well in New York, a city where Latino identity is flourishing.

Although relatively new to the New York fashion scene, Campillo has been making waves in the industry since founding his brand in 2016. Originally launched under the name The Pack, the brand evolved into Campillo just a year later, becoming a reflection of his childhood, Mexican heritage, and the modern artistic wave sweeping through his country. His designs blend masculinity and femininity in a fluid, dynamic way that has caught the attention of fashion insiders worldwide.

Campillo’s recognition as the first Mexican designer shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH Prize highlights his rising prominence in the fashion world. As a semifinalist, the designer’s innovative work has already garnered attention from key industry figures, and the winner of the prize will be announced in Paris shortly. His ability to intertwine culture, history, and modernity into his collections sets him apart in a competitive landscape.

For Spring 2025, Campillo’s focus on volcanoes as a source of inspiration adds a deeper layer to his designs. As he explained backstage, the collection reflects the contrast between serenity and violence, much like the dormant and active phases of a volcano. This season, he continues to push boundaries while staying true to his roots, demonstrating the power of nature and culture through his clothing.
