The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that renowned American fashion designer, businessman, and filmmaker Tom Ford will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2024 presented by Pandora. The prestigious event will take place on Monday, December 2nd, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, celebrating Ford’s remarkable contributions to the world of fashion, film, and culture.
Tom Ford, a transformative figure in the luxury fashion industry, is recognized for his impeccable tailoring, bold designs, and business expertise. Ford’s illustrious career began in 1990 when he joined Gucci as Chief Womenswear Designer and quickly ascended to Creative Director in 1994. Under his leadership, Gucci became one of the most profitable luxury brands in the world. In 1999, Ford and Gucci’s CEO Domenico De Sole established the Gucci Group, now known as Kering, with Ford assuming creative control over both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. In 2005, Ford launched his namesake brand, TOM FORD, which was met with immediate success.
Ford’s influence extends beyond fashion. As a filmmaker, his debut film A Single Man (2009) earned an Academy Award nomination, while his second film Nocturnal Animals (2016) won the Grand Jury Prize and received multiple nominations, including at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. During his tenure as Chairman of the CFDA, Ford diversified the Board of Directors, strengthened New York Fashion Week, and launched the A Common Thread initiative to support fashion businesses during the pandemic.

Ford responded to the honor with gratitude, reflecting on his career: “It is an honor to be acknowledged for my contributions to fashion, film, and culture by the British Fashion Council. This award is incredibly special to me, as I have spent a great deal of my life in London. During my 35 years in the fashion world, I have focused on creativity and the love of beauty and style.”
The Outstanding Achievement Award celebrates individuals who have made a lasting impact on the fashion industry through innovation and creativity. Past recipients include iconic names such as Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, and Miuccia Prada.
The Fashion Awards, organized by the BFC, serve as the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, spotlighting creative talent and recognizing the role of fashion at the intersection of culture and entertainment.
