The Air Jordan 3 Black Cement is making its much-anticipated return on November 23, 2024. For over three decades, this model has been a symbol of basketball heritage and streetwear culture. Originally released in 1988, it holds a significant place in sneaker history, thanks to its groundbreaking design by Tinker Hatfield and its association with Michael Jordan’s unforgettable performances. The upcoming release stays faithful to the original, offering enthusiasts and collectors the chance to own a piece of history that hasn’t been available since its last reissue in 2018.

A Game-Changing Design by Tinker Hatfield

When Tinker Hatfield introduced the Air Jordan 3 Black Cement, it was unlike anything the world had seen before. The model debuted the now-iconic Jumpman logo and the revolutionary elephant print overlays, which quickly became a defining feature of the Jordan line. The shoe’s bold aesthetic set new standards in footwear design, blending performance with style. The 2024 release captures these details with remarkable accuracy, using premium black tumbled leather for the upper, complemented by grey elephant print on the forefoot and heel. This dedication to authenticity ensures the sneaker retains its legendary status.

Staying True to Original Specifications

In an era when many retro releases feature updated materials and modern reinterpretations, the Black Cement 3s stand out by sticking to their roots. The 2024 version avoids trends like sail-tinted midsoles or nubuck overlays, instead staying true to the blueprint that made the original a classic. Key elements, such as the Fire Red Jumpman logo embroidered on the tongue and the Nike Air branding on the heel tab, remain intact. The midsole, constructed from white foam with Air-Sole cushioning, provides the same comfort and support that made the shoe a favorite among athletes and fans alike. A Cement Grey rubber outsole completes the design, offering durability and a timeless finish.

Michael Jordan and the 1988 NBA All-Star Game

The Black Cement Jordans are a piece of basketball history. Michael Jordan wore this iconic sneaker during the 1988 NBA All-Star Game, a performance that reinforced his reputation as one of the greatest players of all time. His on-court dominance, paired with the bold design of the shoe, made the “Black Cement” an instant classic. Over the years, the model has become a symbol of Jordan’s legacy, cherished by fans and collectors who recognize its significance.
