The AW25 collection from Facetasm, “Kind Shelter,” takes inspiration from a visit to LOG, a boutique hotel in Onomichi, Japan. Designed by Studio Mumbai under the direction of architect Bijoy Jain, LOG is a serene retreat defined by minimalism and a philosophy of “Be Kind.” This environment profoundly influenced the creative vision behind the collection, shaping its aesthetic and core values.
LOG integrates natural elements like light, wind, and vegetation into its design, creating a relationship between the built environment and its surroundings. This sense of harmony resonated with Facetasm’s creative director, Hiromichi Ochiai, who sought to translate that tranquility into the AW25 collection.
Redefining Layered Fashion
The “Kind Shelter” collection maintains Facetasm’s signature layered aesthetic while introducing more fluid and relaxed silhouettes. The designs prioritize ease of movement, offering oversized coats, draped knitwear, and loose-fitting trousers that envelop the wearer in soft, cocoon-like comfort.
The color palette features muted earth tones, gentle greys, and soft blues, echoing the natural elements of LOG’s surroundings. The fabrics, such as wool, cotton, and textured knits, add depth and warmth to the collection, creating a tactile experience that aligns with the theme of shelter and care.
Facetasm’s AW25 designs elevate everyday wear, balancing practicality and elegance. Ochiai’s focus on intricate details includes asymmetrical cuts and layered collars. These elements add subtle refinement without overwhelming the simplicity of the garments.
